Malcolm Birkett was awarded The Warton Cup as Member of the Year for 2023-24 at the AGM. As well as his 'official' job of Syllabus Secretary, Malcolm has been involved in many other aspects of club life. He has stood in for Chairman Michael Kay when needed, as the position of Vice-Chairman still remains unfilled. His photographic outings have been well supported, visiting places as far afield as a Brass Band Festival in Derbyshire and Beamish Heritage Village near Newcastle. His photographic and video compilation of these trips was thoroughly enjoyed by members at the end of the year. He also organised the Set Subject evenings, which also involved additional work.
